The company has two main lines of business, namely, shipping and providing services to offshore oil exploration companies.
The shipping business transports crude oil, petroleum products, gas and dry bulk commodities.
The offshore business serves the oil companies in carrying out offshore exploration and production activities. These operations are through its wholly owned subsidiary Greatship (India) Limited.
The Sheths and the Bhiwandiwallas founded GE Shipping to support their trading businesses. In 1948 the ship SS Fort Elice commenced its maiden voyage.
Over the next decades, the business grew, testing new waters and exploring new avenues.
